Well, not really. But this is my first post!
About myself:
My name is Samantha and I live in Houston, Texas. I married my highschool sweetheart 1 year after we graduated highschool, and a short year later we welcomed our beautiful daugher Avery into our lives. I have to tell you, things haven't been the same since!
About the blog:
A few years ago my dad started developing a keen interest in wood working. Though he is still a novice craftsmen in many regards (though quite adept at making boxes!) he does posess a well equipped workshop. Through him, I've been able to get my hands on various types of wood. This exposure has helped encourage me to finally persue my own style of wood working - pen turning. Now while I've always appreciated and, to an extent, collected beautiful and smooth writing pens, and I've always been fascinated with wood (and acrylic!) I clearly have my dad to thank for giving me this idea!
So this year for my birthday I've finally ordered my first lathe, which will be kept at his shop (I'm currently in an apartment).
The catch?
I know absolutely nothing about turning pens.
Thus the idea for this blog was born. What could possibly be funnier than a novice wood crafter learning how to turn her first pens and then sell them to an unexpecting public??
Ok, so I can think of a few things. But still. The idea of cataloging my growth and the individual stages in a way that I can share with friends, family, and (maybe, if I get really good!) potential clients is something that interests me. Hopefully I'll remember to post pictures on a regular basis. Whats the sense of a blog about beautiful hand turned pens, when I don't post pictures?
That's all for now! I'll post as soon as I have an estimated delivery date for my new toy. =)
Out of Turn,
Sam

This will be interesting! I've never even heard of pen turning, so it'll be neat to read about your learning to do it.
